It’s time for a look at a portable vape that’s a bit different.
Because in today’s vaping review I’m going to be checking out the Vapor Genie – an affordable and lightweight vaporizer that promises to give you the freedom anywhere, anytime and all without batteries.
So how the hell does it work and is it actuallyany good? Well read on because in my full and honest VaporGenie review I’m about to reveal all.
What Makes The VaporGenie So Different…
The VaporGenie really quite unlike most others vaporizer that I’ve come across in that it literally requires no batteries at all.
The only other battery-less vaporizer that I can think off the top of my head is the WISPR 2 which I reviewed a while ago which runs off of Butane gas but with the Vapor Genie all that’s required is the heat from a lighter… or so they say.
Here’s a close up look at the Vapor Genie. It’s a pretty standard pipe-ish type shape and these things come in a variety of different colors too.
As you can see I’ve opted for this silver aluminum style:
Cheap And Lightweight…
It’s light at just and at a price of around $60-$70 it’s also one of the most affordable that on the market by a long shot. In fact it may just be the cheapest vaporizer that I’ve ever bought.
However as much as I love the idea of a cheap and completely battery-less vaporizer on paper… in reality I’ve found it’s pretty hard to use. Actually I’ll re-phrase that – it’s EXTREMELY hard to use.
Packing and using the vaporizer seems simple enough. You just unscrew the big top piece and then you pack your chamber with your herbs. The instruction booklet recommends using loose herbs and not filling it up too much.
Then we screw the lid back on and then start to ‘vape’ by holding our lighter up to the opening of the VaporGenie.
And the idea is that the flame of the lighter will heat the ceramic disk that is located in this top section to a high enough temperature that your herbs which are located directly below it will heat up.
Learning Curve Is STEEP!
There is definitely a learning curve when it comes to the VaporGenie and it’s not the type of device that newbies will be able to pick up and just start using right away.
After a lot of trial and error I did eventually manage to coax a relatively decent hit out of it.
But maaaaan. It’s not easy to get a hit. It’s not easy at all.
It takes me just so many just to even a get a hit off this vape and it even when I do the vape clouds are very minimal and the vape hits that I get off this thing are just nowhere near as satisfying as I get with other vaporizer. I honestly can’t see myself using this very often.
Batteries may be a minor inconvenience but personally I find my battery operated devices to not only be stronger and more satisfying but much easier to use and just so much more consistent.
The Final Verdict…
The Vapor Genie vaporizer may be great for the Armish but it’s just not for me.
I’m going to give this one a 5/10.
Alternative Portable Vaporizers…
Magic Flight Launch Box: If you’re looking for something with a bit more bang but that’s still within the same price range as the Vapor Genie then I’d recommend looking into something the maybe Magic Flight Launch Box. It’s not batterless but it’s only about $30 more than the VaporGenie and let me tell you the hits I got this are phenomenal.
WISPR 2: If you’re dead set on getting something batteryless and have a few more bucks to spend then you find the WISPR 2 a bit more to your liking. It runs of butane gas and just seconds to fill up and one of these cans of gas will last you for ages.
